Welcome to Rutledge, Georgia!
Rutledge is a small city of about 700 people, located in North Central Georgia about 50 miles east of Atlanta. It is the second largest city in Morgan County, whose biggest city is historic Madison (the city that Sherman refused to burn). Rutledge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Our city’s motto is “Small But Special.”
Downtown Rutledge is home to several unique merchants and artisans, and boasts great places to eat as well as fun and interesting events scheduled year-round. Right next door to Rutledge, Hard Labor Creek State Park features hiking and camping, an 18-hole public golf course, cabin lodging, and a summertime celestial observatory. Rutledge also offers many other business services, and is home to several regional and national companies.
